This pipeline is financed by a massive consortium managed by BP. This pipeline is the West's hope to replace the Northsea oil. There is not enough oil from the Baku area to fill this pipeline. The west is looking to the massive oil field in Tengiz, Kazakhstan at the north end of the Caspian Sea to fill it. Russia wants to pump the Tengiz oil out through it's pipelines and China is building another pipeline to the access the Tengiz oil

BAKU-TBILISI-CEYHAN (BTC) PIPELINE
This pipeline is financed by a massive consortium managed by BP. This pipeline is the West's hope to replace the Northsea oil. There is not enough oil from the Baku area to fill this pipeline.
